Thursday

Strong winds were the order of the day for Thursday with heavy gusting conditions for the morning and afternoon races. The morning race saw the junior classes take on a challenging "X" course which had to be seen to be understood, but resulted in lots of to and fro-ing around the 5 marks in the bay while the SODs raced further out in the lake. In the afternoon the competition among Shannon One Designs was for the St David's Cup, a highly desireable claret jug which has been raced for since the very earliest days of the regatta, and in the evening the ladies took control for a race in the bay.
