Onboard 49er Liffey Skiffy 2010

Every year the Dublin Docklands Authority open up the River Liffey to a series of Friday afternoon regattas, and if the small keelboats can manage it successfully then why not a high performance Olympic class? The 49ers epitomise the modern high-octane a-symettric trend in dinghy sailing, and would usually be accustommed to much longer tacks and gybes than they enjoyed between the solid quay walls! The event did provide good entertainment though, specially for the assembled knowledgeable supporters on the Cill Airne, and the warm sunny weather meant plenty of passing tourists and office workers stopped to puzzle over the goings on too!

More details about the class and the event can be found at the Irish 49er Facebook Page.
