Crumlin Hospital Charity Race 2011

This summer, the Royal St. George Yacht Club hosted its first charity fun sailing race in aid of Our Lady's Children's Hospital Crumlin. The course for the Pursuit race in a light easterly breeze consisted of Salthill Mark, Merrion Mark, Harbour Mark, Turning Mark and finish. On the race course the smaller boats which started first maintained a good but shifty wind through most of the race while the larger and faster cruisers ran short of wind before they reached the first mark and had to drift for some time before it filled in again and everyone charged to the finish.

At the prize-giving on Friday, 22nd July, Dr. Freddy Wood explained to the 47 boat owners and their crews that the €4,200 raised on the evening for the Children's hospital enabled them to purchase vital equipment and to undertake important research which would not be possible with the funding provided by central government.

Any money paid for copies of these photographs will also be donated in full to the Children's Medical & Research Foundation in Crumlin Children's Hospital.
