Dublin Bay played host to the junior fleets today for day one of the ISA Mitsubishi Youth Nationals organised by the Dun Laoghaire waterfront clubs. After a briefing by professional sailor Maurice (Prof) O'Connell 300 youth sailors launched in glorious sunny conditions.
A steady10 knot north easterly wind provided perfect sailing conditions on the two courses on the bay. It was the first day of racing for four of the six fleets competing, Laser Radial, Laser 4.7, 420 and Topper whilst the Optimists and Fevas had a practice race today in advance of racing tomorrow.
