Round Ireland Yacht Race 2012
The course is simple - leave Ireland and all her Islands to Starboard - but the reality can often be VERY different, and for the incredibly varied fleet crossing the start line at noon the next week (or more) will bring a variety of challenges in navigation, timing and from the mixed forecast.
Many will just be glad that the sun shone and the breeze was favourable for a spinnaker start after recent iterations of the race were either becalmed or postponed by storms, and the huge crowds ashore certainly enjoyed the spectacle!
