Friday

Day one of the championships was WET, and not the torrential kind but the misty, penetrating make you cold to the core type the drips off the boom and makes your tell-tales stick to the sail! On top of this and the wind that never stirred much above a Force 2 was a punishing current as the three sisters (Rivers Barrow, Nore and Suir) added their considerable flow to a falling tide. The race committee provided a compact and fair course though, and the rain even abated long enough in the first race for a few photograhs!
