DBSC Turkeyshoot 2009

There was a time, not too long agon, that the only winter racing happening along the waterfront in Dun Laoghaire was by hard folk in dingies and drysuits, but with the advent of the marina most keel-boats are now staying in the water rather than hauling out and a vibrant racing scene has been introduced by Dublin Bay Sailing Club to fill these extra months. With the emphasis on simple, fun and inclusive racing the season running up to Chirstmas featured slalom racing courses, staggered starts and weekly prizegivings with a strong social element, culmanating in a fancy-dress race on 14th December 2008 which we were there to catch on a wonderfully crisp sunday afternoon.
