Friday

Despite a number of pesimistic predictions to the contrary the first morning of the event opened with a good steady breeze across the bay, and not the light shifty zephers many had feared. The glorious sunshine on the quayside however did give way to a thick bank of fog just a few hundred metres from the harbour mouth which disected the bay from the chimneys to Sandycove and forced all fleets to find their startlines by luck and by GPS!

There was no appreciable delay to the schedule though with all fleets getting underway as planned about 11am and wasn't too long before the fog cleared completely with a very enjoyable sunny day of competitive racing enjoyed by all the fleets.
