Sunday - Practice Day

Once measurement and registration finished and with a fleet of 91 from seven nations ready for a competitive week ahead the practice day should have given everyone a chance to get out on the lake under the watchful eyes of visiting Minister for the Marine (an ex-Mirror sailor) Simon Coveney TD. The weather had other plans however, and following a delay to allow thunder storms to pass the improved conditions lasted only long enough for the practice race to get under way before the wind died and thunderous storms returned.
Thankfully conditions improved enough by the early evening to allow a fantastic parade of the crews through the village before the official opening ceremonies took place in the club grounds, and Minister Coveney's heart-felt speech was very well received by all as he bestowed rich praise on the Mirror Dinghy and spoke fondly of his own time sailing in the class.
